Entwined Lovers

"Entwined Lovers"
"Entwined Lovers," a portion of two naturally-formed tree roots, was one of the highlights of the Seminar on Death and Dying held in the spring of 1978. Found on the grounds of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas during that seminar, this tree trunk was shown to the Master, who explained that it was actually two lovers who, during their previous lives, had been so inseparable from each other that they made mutual vows to always be together in every life. Due to their karma, they ended up in this life as two tree roots that grew together in perpetual embrace. The Master went on to explain that the true principle of how sexual desire and emotional love are the root of death and dying and lead to endless transmigration in the paths of rebirth.
