Kun Yam Thong (Deng Bi An) before renovation. This temple was founded in 1880. Dharma Realm Buddhist Association Sangha members moved in on September 28, 1993.

Kun Yam Thong (Deng Bi An) is an old temple situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, surrounded by sky-high office towers and shopping malls. Despite the hustle-bustle during work hours, upon entering the temple one feels a calm and serene atmosphere. On weekdays many people come to pay respects to the Buddhas and Bodhisattavas during their lunch hour and have a vegetarian lunch.

This picture shows the architect’s conceptual drawing of the new monastery now being built on the site of the old Kun Yam Thong. The exterior lay of the new monastery practically mirrors that of the old. The interior has been arranged to allow for a larger Buddha hall worship area. Renovation is expected to be completed by 2002.
